Focus Matrix

The ability to focus is essential —whether you're on the ball field, in the classroom, or at work. It's becoming increasingly difficult as we are constantly distracted by phones, social media, and information overload.

A powerful tool to hone this skill is the Focus Matrix, a simple (but not easy) way to practice mindful focus anytime, anywhere.

Check out the video to learn more, and download the PDF for 5 different levels of the Focus Matrix to challenge yourself today!

Develop Traits. Stack Bricks. Build Pillars. Forge TEAMs.

Success on the field and in life isn’t just about talent—talent alone isn't enough. You must be a complete player. That's why we focus on building the Four Pillars of a Next Season Athlete:

Talent, Effort, Ambition & Mindset.

Each pillar has 5 traits, or “bricks.”

Each brick is formed from multiple attributes.

The goal? Become a “5-tool player” by developing each brick to strengthen your pillars.

Mastering all 4 pillars makes you an ideal TEAMmate with a bulldog mentality.

There’s no single, magic quality for success.

It takes a diverse set of skills and intentional effort to develop traits, stack bricks, build pillars & forge unshakeable TEAMs.

Take Your Goal Setting to the Next Level

Most goals fail.

The hard reality is most people still have major struggles in setting and achieving their goals.

The problems? Most people skip the extra foundational work required to create the proper structure for their goals, and they don’t establish the systems to pursue goals that align to the way our brains work.

Just saying, “I want to go pro,” won’t cut it. You need a rock-solid process to set yourself up for success.

Here’s a science-backed, step-by-step guide to build that foundation and take your game—and your goals—to the next level.

The worksheet features a logo 'Next Season' with the tagline 'Mindset Coaching - Athletes for Life' in the top right corner.

Daily ‘Inside Move’ Worksheet

How can a pitcher control a running game? An inside move.

What about when your mind is running wild and you need to regain control? That takes an inside move too.

The internal mindset game that you need to practice to build confidence, focus and mental strength.

From the wisdom of Dr. Paul Conti, I believe two of the most important building blocks for strong mental health, resilience and performance (on and off the field) are agency & gratitude.

Agency means believing — and feeling — that you have control over your actions and responses. It’s your power to choose how you think, behave and perform in any moment.

Gratitude is the peaceful focus on what’s working well in your life — the big things and the small, simple things. This rewires your brain to notice positives, build emotional strength and reduce stress.

Research shows that a regular gratitude practice can increase well-being by up to 25%, improve sleep, reduce anxiety, and even strengthen relationships. All of these feed directly into better mental health, resilience and performance.

But here’s the truth: it takes intentional, disciplined and consistent practice to reap the benefits. And many people find these practices cliché, forced or just plain hard to keep up.

This is why I created my own INSIDE MOVE WORKSHEET — a simple, practical tool I use myself, practice with my own children and use with my athletes to take control of their mindset, on and off the field!
